Types of Mesh Office Chair
The first type is a mesh seat and back with no padding. Mesh is simply stretched across a chair frame on the seat and back. One of the biggest problems with a mesh chair is that it is very difficult to design a mesh seat that is both comfortable and supportive. A mesh office chair will almost always be too soft or too hard.
Mesh Chair with Padded Mesh Seat
This chair will have a seat that feels like a typical padded office chair but the backrest will have mesh stretched across the frame. Most higher-end mesh chairs will be upholstered with a soft mesh. Mesh will sink down a bit more and give the user the feeling of floating; this is something that many mesh chair users rave about. But, mesh that is allowed to stretch and contract a substantial amount over and over will eventually sag; this can lead to the customer having to replace the seat or whole chair.
The other major problem with soft mesh is that expands and contracts more than hard mesh so it will not properly disperse your weight over the entirety of the seat. Instead, the mesh will create an uneven flex point that causes the majority of the pressure to be placed on the tailbone. This can cause pain, numbing or discomfort after using the chair for an extended period of time.
These models use the mesh upholstery for looks, which creates a feel very similar to traditional office chairs. A hard mesh will be much more consistent in its performance over time but the comfort level is very low, to begin with compared to soft mesh. The flex point described above will not be nearly as pronounced but there will be no chance that the user experiences a feeling of floating. The seat will be much too hard not to notice the seat. A hard mesh seat will feel similar to sitting on a surface like wood than a typical office chair constructed of foam and fabric.
We do not recommend chairs that feature a hard mesh seat. There are many alternatives out there that allow a user to pair a mesh back with a padded fabric, leather or vinyl seat.
How to Tell If an Office Chair is Suitable？
(1)Look for the Ability to Adjust the Chair's Height.
The height of your ergonomic chair should be fully adjustable. The chair's seat should be easy to move either upwards or downwards. This adjustment will allow for people of different heights to comfortably sit in the chair. Make sure you can adjust how high or low the the seat is before purchasing your chair.
A seat height of 15” to 22” will comfortably seat a person between 5'0" to 6'4" tall.
Most chairs will offer only a small range of adjustment.

The Way to Adjust Office Chair for Your height
Stand in front of the chair. Adjust the height so the highest point of the seat, (when in the horizontal position), is just below the knee cap.
Sit on the chair and keep your feet flat on the floor.
Check that the clearance between the front edge of the seat and the lower part of the legs (your calves) fits a clenched fist (about 5 cm or 2 inches).
Adjust the back rest forwards and backwards as well as up and down so that it fits the hollow in your lower back.
Sit upright with your arms hanging loosely by your sides. Bend your elbows at about a right angle (90 degrees) and adjust the armrest(s) height until they barely touch the undersides of the elbows.
Remove the armrests from the chair if this level can not be achieved or if armrests, in their lowest adjustment, elevate your elbows even slightly.
Tilt the seat itself forwards or backwards if you prefer. Different office tasks require different equipment, accessories and layouts.
Cleaning Steps of Mesh Office Chair
First, vacuum your office chair. Use a vacuum cleaner with the upholstery or nozzle hose attachment, and go over your entire mesh chair. Be sure to go deep into the nooks and crannies of your mesh chair. Vacuuming would remove dust and loose debris before you wipe the mesh chair clean, which will prevent the dust from sinking deeper into your office chair.
If your vacuum cleaner is having a difficult time to clean the mesh fabric, place a clean t-shirt or other cloth behind the mesh. Keep the vacuum cleaner as close to the mesh fabric as possible. Do this on both sides of your mesh chairs, and you should be able to get more dust and debris out through vacuuming.
Take a soft cloth, like a microfiber cloth, and dampen it with a mixture of warm water with a few drops of dishwashing liquid. Use the wet cloth, and gently wipe away any grime from your mesh chair. Rinse out the microfiber cloth, and keep applying the diluted soap combination until the cloth comes back clean.
Do a final rinse. Wipe the microfiber cloth across the entire mesh chair with just plain, warm water, and let the chair dry completely before using it. Be careful when cleaning your office chair as the mesh backing may rip with too much scrubbing. Gently wipe the chair, but do not scrub.
You'll need a good stain remover to get rid of unsightly spots or discoloration from your mesh office chair. A mixture of white vinegar and baking soda does well in removing most kinds of spots, and is an inexpensive way to clean a mesh office chair.
